You are incorrect with the saying "35's will fare much better off road"

It's not that simple and there are many more variables. Not only does the tire's diameter and gear ratio affect the "driving" but also the weight of the tire itself. I would not want to drive a JK with 33" MT's with 3.73 gears much less 35" tires.

Back to the offroad comment. You would actually be better with a 33" tire diameter with only a 2.5" lift but then again you have more gray area. Assuming the actual diameter is 33" and the exact lift yields you 2.5" you will obviously have more travel and articulation with 33's wich is more valuable. The 35's will rub unless you use long bumpstops which would put you back at square one with the restricted axle articulation. Now if it is all about looks and beating the streets, then that is a matter of opinion.
I wouldn't run 33x12.50 with those gears. I wouldn't go any bigger/heavier than a 33x10.50 but that is just me.
I also wouldn't run a 15" wheel either. I would go with 16's/33's and 17's for 35's. General rule is wheel should be about half of tire diameter.

Default 35s

I would deffinatly go with the 35s. I have them and want 37s. Actually I want WOL's 40s on 20s. But as soon as I can wear out these mickeys I am going 37.

MarcusRTJ your jeep looks really good, and some of the hills around Austin are brutal, good to hear you still have good power with the 35s on em!

I ran 33's on my last 3 jeeps and after running 35's, wish I would have run them long ago. It may sound crazy but the ride seems much more firm on the road. Where my jeep used to bounce around after hittig potholes with 33's it now just bumps. I'm guessing it's due to the weight and size of the tire...but I'm no expert.

I have an auto and was also suprised by the power that still remained with 35's even on the highway. (No problem going 75+ if you turn off the OD...except for gas millage.)

I had 4.10s and thought it was horrible with 35s. I dunno how you guys are running 3.73s??? I prolly could have lived with the 4.10s longer if I had a stick. It was a dog with the auto. Plus offroad you are gonna be all over the brakes. yuck. not for me.

Went with the 33" tire mainly because of gas mileage and not wanting to change gears, jeep looks 150% better than those stock wheels, like one guy said it kinda looked like a shopping cart with the lift and the stock tires and wheels, thsnks again for all the help and information
