Default Another axle thread...

My vision for my 2dr X is a sweet custom DD with some serious off road capabilities. I would like her to look the part.

So far the most expensive single mod on my list is a super charger and axles.

The super charger price I can't really get around and I think I am going to need it after the tires (36s or 37s) and bumpers.

But now on to the axles and this is where I am going to need some help and I have searched.

Currie obviously sells an amazing kit but for 5g for the front is
I'm not saying it's not worth it. Add another 3500 -3800 for the rear.
So lets break it down to the fact that my pocket does have limits and that's beyond my limits.....with all the other mods I am planning, we are getting

I've seen prices for new Mopar D44. What about used? Has anyone been able to find a wrecked Rubi and yanked out the axles? I read that with some mods and gussets the D44 would probably suit my needs. Any thoughts on this? Lets talk respectable BUDGET axles.

Thanks for the help

well you already have a 44 in the rear, I wouldnt waste the cash on a rubicon 44 for the back. Just find a rubicon 44 for the front and call it good.

Total 3200.00 + shipping + gear installation

Rear Currie Rock Jock 1900.00
ARB, Gears, installation 1600.00

I never said that it wasnt worth it. The front is just REALLY expensive. Combine the rear and the front and we are talking about some serious cash. If I had the money, i would be all over it.

That's why I was looking for a BUDGET alternative with a possible used rubi D44.

Yes the front 1 Ton is a little more 5k for the complete housing + 1600.00 for ARB gears and installation for a grand total of 6600.00.

We also offer a small knuckle 60, you get to re-use your stock outters. You are looking at 2750.00 + 1600.00 for a total 4350.00 (+750.00 core charge). Comes with HD Tie Rod.

Front Mopar 44 1600.00
axle shafts 800.00
ARB 850.00
Gears 700.00

Total 3,950.00 + shipping + installation

Why do you need axle shafts or an ARB locker?

I thought the mopar axles come complete?

I guess I should add that the currie to stock rubi axle is not exactly fair comparison.

Ok that's a little better in price but still very expensive. I'm sure it's worth it though. I would be able to keep my 5x5 bolt pattern? But that still isnt a budget axle build.

I'm sure I could cut the costs by going with a used D44. Has anyone tried looking for 07+ rubi D44? I'm not sure if I will ever regret not going with 60s.

The Currie's are awesome! We have first hand experience on how strong they are.

I have no doubt in my mind that Currie axles are sweet. I'm sure it is the smartest buy for 60s.

Now what about Budget builds?

How strong are modified D44s? If I have a D44 rear already and mod it, all I need is the rubi front D44...right? I know a couple of welders and we could easily gusset the axels with a little advice from fellow jeepers of course.

If I had a A$$ load of money I would run 60s and a Hemi. But that is not the case unless someone talks to uncle sam and he gives me a long overdue pay increase!
