You guys make them sound like the Mopar 44 is horrible. I don't plan on any air time...but ya never know. I like rocks.

It's not. There are a lot of guys running 37's on the stock D44s. Heck there are some that are running with a D30 front even. I think if budget is important, get the D44 front. They only come with 4.10 gears, so hopefully you already have the 4.10's in you Jeep, if not an immediate gear swap will be needed, therefore you may have to plan on how you do everything (incremental or all at once). You can always beef up the D44s as well as time goes on.

I have read that some people are running 37s and D30s. IMO thats gonna blow up!
Gear swap is a must and will happen. I would do everything all at once and prob during my lift intall. The plan is to find a used 07+ D44, gear it, gusset, and beef it up. Depending on the cost of a used D44 and if I could even acquire one. This is easier said then done and I have A LOT more research to do on this topic. Reliability and cost is my main concern. Is there a diffrence from the Rubi D44 rear and the X?

Yes, the Rubi D44 is 32 spline, the X version is 30 spline (non-locker).

Ponch, as you've started this thread, you've left it open to at least as much opinion as fact (see quote). Are the JK's running 37's bending all over the place? No. There are some issues with the ends that a gusset and some welding skills can easily take care of. I'd even say a majority of axles aren't even experiencing these problems. Before going nuts because of someone's opinion, look at what you're really going to do with this. You're planning to spend bags of money on one area that if you spread it out a bit, you could make yourself a really nice off-roader. Again guy, put a little effort in separating fact from opinion.

That's what I'm trying not to do, spend bags of money in one area.... I want to make the smartest decision, budget, and reliabilty. The question that runs through my mind, long term? You can always try to get it right the 1st time but that's not always the case, such is life.

I think I have already made up my mind with what I am going to do. Thanks for the help.

Which one D44 is better for 35 splines and locker mod.

IMO, there is just something really cool about the Curries. The strength factor is also nice, LOL.
