Default Another Bumper Thread

I'm looking at a new rear bumper. I want a linked tire carrier. Of these 3 what do you all think

Expedition One Train Series rear bumper with smooth tire carrier

Poison Spyder RockBrawler II with tire carrier

LOD Door Linked Signature Series Fullwidth Rear Bumper with the Generation 4 Tire Carrier System

I'd like to mount my jerry can. Seems like the only one I can do that with is the LOD.

What do you guys think? Also I have an opportunity to buy a used Expedition One rear bumper at a good price, already powder coated.

Rock Slide Engineering is a great bumper/tire carrier. Holds my 40" spare not sweat!

LoD stuff is pure beef. Cool thing about the new generation bumpers is that they are made of high strength steel. What that means is weight savings. An LoD bumper/carrier is just north of 100lbs. Poison Spyder is 150+. Ace is like 190. LoD comes powder coated, which makes life a lot easier.

I abuse their bumpers and skids in the rocks and am actually pretty surprised how they've held up. Even the powder coat is solid.

You should really consider the JCR Offroad bumper. It locks in place when open, which is nice in off camber situations. It holds 2 Rotopax, high lift and a mount for the CB antenna. It has a nice secure latching system which has a large enough release handle to make it easy to open. It does not require any large modifications to the frame of the vehicle, just drill a couple holes, which I think is huge. Also it works with your factory tow hitch if you have one which means there is no change in tow load rating. Seriously consider JCR, it's the goods!

The full width bumper looks great as well as the Shield Carrier. BigSteve your set up is awesome.

It looks like it's between the LOD and the JCR. Love the warranty on the LCR

With both the LOD and JCR I am concerned with rattle of the carrier. It looks to me that the only thing keeping it from bouncing up and down is adjustable stops attached to the tail gate. Hard to tell from the pictures.

I'm not a fan of the rotopax. It's simply a looks and capacity thing and I already own jerry cans. But I'm not so stuck in my ways to switch cans if it's for getting a superior bumper.

Costs:

The LOD with their Zinc powder coating, lights and jerry can mount shipped is $1600.00 shipped. (rounding up)

The JCR with having to buy a rotopax, rotopax mount, the square LED (looks like the round ones leaves the square hole exposed a bit) and adding the brake light comes to $1800 shipped. (rounding up and assuming that orders over $100 is true for bumpers)

A few questions that maybe JCR can answer.

Rattle?? I'll be mounting 37" tires on there and really want to make sure that thing stays there and doesn't annoy me.

Why are there holes near the shackle tabs?

Since I'd presumably be ordering this with the shield carrier can the bumper be ordered without the mounting holes for the latch?

Is there an option to mount a good old metal jerry can?

Also one thing to note is that I don't care about a high-lift mount. I already have the JeepSwag in cab mount that I love.

Thanks guys for all your help. It's been fun learning about new products.

Our Full Width bumper works great with stock flares and the shorty works great with stock and aftermarket flares such as the bushwacker flares, due to how they taper in the back. Let us know if you have any questions and we will be happy to answer any questions you have.

If you have everything tight, it won't rattle.

Those are hi-lift jacking points.

Sorry, we are a manufacturer that builds things in batches. Therefor everything comes as shown on our site.

We do not have any mounts or carriers that work with old metal jerry cans.
