Hey all....have been lurking about for a while. Trying to digest the enormous wealth of knowledge on the forum.
I have never had a Jeep before, but have alway's loved them. I rent them frequently on vacations. I am now considering getting a 2012 in the near future. This will be strictly a summertime fun vehicle.
What I would like to do is get a 2DR JK bone stock and build it from there. Thinking, RK 2.5" lift, Bilstein 5100 shocks, 35's, Poison Spyder bumpers, Bushwacker Flats. I have a buddy with a stereo shop that will supply me
with all the electronics I would need. I will off-road occasionally...but will not be crawling. Trails, mud, and hills! The questions I have at the moment are:

1) Should I get the 3.73 ( getting the 6sp)?
2) Should I get the Anti-Slip?
3) Should I get it with half doors or get aftermarket tube?

Is there anything else that you would recommend that I factory order? Or any other thoughts or suggestions.....

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Steve

With 35's most would recommend you regear so it doesn't really matter what you start out with. I guess with the new engine and 4.10's some people are doing okay.

The half doors are very nice and very expensive to get after market. If it was me I'd go with the factory half doors.

1) Yes
2) Yes
3) Full Doors and get aftermarket halfs

I'd get A/C as it will be hard to add later. If you're sticking with the factory radio, do not get the Infinity upgrade but do get connectivity.

Re-gear after 35s only if you find it's needed. Most don't with the 2012s.

X2 on everything. Full doors and pick up tube doors after. If its an option go for the 410's if possible. You may not feel the need to defeats for a while with 35's.

as your last-gasp negotiating demand...... get a (free, cut, and programmed) third key.

As for the full vs half doors, if you get the jeep with halfs and want fulls later you won't get/have the power options you can get with the factory fulls.

Much easier to start with (power) full doors and get some halfs (or tubes, etc.) afterwards.

The dealers sell the half door kits, you can negotiate for a kit while you negotiate for the vehicle. Assembly is easy (fun!) but you need to have the kit painted.

You have winters up in BC, right? you want full doors (and a hard top!) (I know you said summertime only but....)

Thanks for all the great info/ ideas !!!
Great idea on the full doors and negotiate for the halves on the deal.
I think I'll get the 3.73's for the extra $75 bucks and see how they work and re-gear later if need be.
I also will get the trailer tow I think....nice to have as I have a boat and small utility trailer.
Yes....I will get A/C

So, thinking CRUSH....but waiting to have a peek at the Geko Green.
