Default Any better alternative to cooper discoverer at3s before I buy?

I found a site with cooper discoverer AT3 for $1020 shipped and there is a $50 rebate the ends tomorrow so I'm considering ordering them. They are 315/75R16s and I already have some 16" rims I bought for them. Are there any other 35s in the ~$200 price range that I should consider? I think I would be best suited with an all terrain tire but I kinda like the aggressive, mud terrain tread. The discoverer S/T and STT arent too much more, are they worth the difference?

A lot of people around here like to go mudding so I would like something that will do ok in light mud but I dont plan on going crazy in the mud.

Have you looked at the treadright tires? You should be able to get something with more bite for a similar price. People rave about the tires.

Of your choices above, I would do the STT for the reason just above me- they're more all around than pavement pounder, yet still great tires.

I have the AT3's and I generally love 'em..

my only gripe is the 12+ inch width wonders a bit on the road.. wish they had a 35 x 10 inch

but they ride well, they get good off road traction, especially on wet hard surfaces. I don't know about sidewalls... most of my offroad is loose rocks, river limestone banks, and mud. They seem to wear evenly and slowly. Great traction on snow and ice.

only other thing is that the tread pattern almost looks too 'futuristic' for the JK... Stickly looks.. but on those bigger tires, it does stand out.

Hope that was helpful!

Toyo A/T II Xtremes here in 285/75r17. Best all-purpose tire I've owned. Paid about $220/tire. I like the narrower width, relatively light weight for their size, as well as the triple sidewall & 50k tread wear warranty.

I have been running the Treadwright Warden (BFG AT tread pattern) 285/70R17 for a few months now... they ran me 805.00 to my door, 13.00 each for lifetime mount/balance.

They run straight and true, shockingly quiet and as smooth as any tire I have ever run and hook up like mad. at first it felt like they were heavy but I quickly learned that the "heaviness" I felt was the Jeep actually being connected to the ground... the OEM wranglers were like driving on marbles by comparison.

I have the AT3s on my Excursion in 35" size. The ride great and are a great year round tire. I gave the STT on my JK in 37" size and they have been great as well. I will replace these with them again

I usually hate A/Ts, but I really like those a lot. The width and tread seem very practical and they look great, and for only $220/tire?? That's awesome.
