If I don't plan on off roading, are the BFGs MTs are good choice. I want the look of off roading, but would like to minimize road noise.

I've run the BFG MTs on a couple vehicles and found the road noise to be tolerable. My last 4x rig was a 2001 F150 Super Crew which I ran Goodyear Wrangler MTRs and found them to be quieter, so I may run those again on the Rubi...

I would, but...
1. I don't have the money
2. I don't wanna regear
3. I worry about gas mileage as it is
4. I don't wanna break my dana 30 axle
5. I'm new to Jeeping so I'm taking it one step at a time, and right now that means learning to wheel with what I have (with the exception of maybe getting better tires)

I wouldn't say that the 32s are bad. They are noisier than the crummy street wrangler tires that came on my x originally. But, that is to be expected from all-terrain tires. No way they are as noisy as some of the 35's and larger that go whizzing by my on the freeway.

TreyB,

Your criteria seem more than reasonable to me!

There is no question that ATs will perform better on-road than MTs. You will have less road noise and better road holding whilst still maintaining the off-road look. If however you want to go off-road regularly, it probably is worthwhile getting MTs.

I have been running BFG and Kumho MTs for the last ten years on my TJs.

Bull! The BFG MTKs are great! I have had no problems or loud noise from them. In Florida we have a lot of rain and this is the best mud tire I have ever used for wet traction! The off road use kick but too for Rock, Mud, & Sand!

I'm not questioning the off road ability of these tires - I've seen enough proof. What I'm worried about is snow, ice, and water on the highway. I was told by tire dealerships that the AT's would be better for those conditions (even though they have more reason to sell the more expensive MT's).

I'm just asking to hear from people who actually use them in those conditions on the road.

Well adding mud to your Jeep is a Cheap mod, make it look "off Roading" and doesn't add to much additional road noise!

Well, BFG MTs will do great in snow and water and slush, but for Ice there is better tires.
