Default Any Rippmods Done?

I'm looking at getting a Ripp Stage 2 Supercharger for my 08 unlimited, and was wondering if anyone has personally or professionally installed on of these in their rig. I'm hoping someone can give me their opinion on it.

I want to know if it's worth the $5k for it, how much it gives you back in gas mileage and horsepower, how install went, even the order process.

I installed mine about 8 months ago. The order process was great and easy, and they were available by phone and email when i needed them. Install was pretty easy, just had some tweaking issues with the headers and also getting all the intake plumbing to fit snugly. Performance is great! It's no sports car, but i can pass with confidence, merge easily, and tow much easier. Mileage didn't increase too much, but i have a pretty heavy foot.

How long did it take for the install and did you need any specialty tools?

Hello! We've had the s/c and headers on since Dec 2010 and have put 24,000 miles on it so far. Over a weekend, it took about 10 hours to install. Like stated above, it definitely isn't a sports car, but it is a blast to drive! We are located in the Floresville/San Antonio area.

Fuel Injection Specialties is a dealer for RIPP. They even have a dyno, just in case you want to get you supercharger tuned specifically to your jeep.

Hope this helps

I did the headers and spark plugs one day, about 3 hours; the supercharger install took about 8 hours the next day. We took our time and much of that was getting all the intake plumbing to fit right. Specialty tools, I don't think we needed any except lots of different sockets and extensions for the header bolts. RIPP's instructions are great, I recommend reading them through 2 or 3 times before you start. Have some green painters tape handy to cover the intake runners while doing the injectors. And we used a couple different dremel bits for the radiator trim plastic. The installation is very straightforward and laid out in the instructions.

Oh, I did need to visit an exhaust shop to have my intermediate pipe seam welded, it just wasn't lining up. But it had also been tweaked before. It wasn't a bug deal though, $20. And not an issue if not doing the headers.

I highly recommend the headers though. If your stock manifolds haven't cracked, they will. And the whole package is engineered together well.

Which one did you go with, Stage 1 or 2

You need to do stage 2 if you do not have an inter cooler of your own. They offer the stage 1 for those who want to provide their own inter cooler, that's my understanding of how the ripp sc is. I've been researching this for a bit too, and plan on doing it with my girlfriend's dad. Email ripp and they will provide you with a good out the door quote and also give you the install instructions to read ahead of time. There is also a 20-30 minute video on YouTube walking you through the install. I watched it 3 times already, read trough the instructions 3 times, and posted a few specific questions and had them answered on this forum by rippmods, and I haven't even ordered it yet. (still saving the last few hundred dollars).

The videos are by a third party btw, and apparently the part about emailing your current tune to ripp is dated. He tuner they send you has all of the tunes preprogrammed and you choose your own wheel size, gears, etc.
