Default Gen2, headers, superchips, etc

Hey Guys.

Does the Ripp SC pretty much render my Superchips programmer useless? I see that they push the Diablo with the header kits. Would anyone say that's a must for programming? I'm not against buying it - especially when you're looking to spend over 7 grand on your jeep.

Just curious as I'm fired up to get the Ripp in my 08 Rubicon because I'm tired of mini-van power.
I do live at nearly 8000 feet in Colorado so I might employ the help of the folks at High Country off road to make sure it gets tuned for the lean Oxygen world I call home.

Thanks for the good info everyone. I'll post back as to how it goes for me over the new few weeks/months.

Yes, you'd have to back out your superchips tune and use the diablo. You have to use their tune or the computer won't know what to do with the added pressure.

I had some tuning issues i think with my JK Ripp SC, stuttering at 2700 RPMs. I am going to sell the RIPP and the JK separate because i bought a 12 JKU.

Any takers?

I get the exact same thing around that RPM range - "stuttering"/hesitation. I've sent them data logs and they just tell me everything looks perfect. Very frustrating.

Was going for $4000 with everything. But I am open for negotiation.

Default Had mine on for about 2.5 weeks.

We live in Colorado and I guess that presents some unique tuning issues with the RIPP. We like the extra power but to this point I have to say the ride is pretty rough.

My wife took the Jeep across Colorado and had some pretty serious shifting point issues and a variety of Engine errors on the display. The Jeep seems to hesitate when the Jeep is put into passing gear on the highway. She just got back from the trip so we will be taking the Jeep back to the shop to see what can be done.

Default Understand Completely

The tune is getting better but without a Dyno here in Rapid "middle of nowhere" City South Dakota, its hard to really dial in the tune. I have to hand it to Ripp tho...They have been really patient and have answered every email from this impatient customer.

Love the power, just need the 4dr and less frustration. Gotta sell.

As a whole the RIPP 3.3 tune is designed to fit all variations of JK's and their respective modifications.... End users should keep in mind that there is other elements that come into play that we (the industry) do not have access to in programming. The JK's are designed by the OEM to go into an ECON mode under certain driving conditions, mostly presently at highway speeds. This naturally is designed to get better MPG under Tip-in throttle inputs (steady state speeds). We cannot tune the ECON aspect of the tune - its hard coded JUST like the Cruise Control. We do however make sure the engine is safe under the ECON condition. There is a slight delay in the factory programming that translates to this hesitation... Collectively ALL Mopar vehicles are subjected to it. Some JK's are more sensitive to it than others, this is unique to the JK and cannot be air tuned. If we've seen a log from the vehicle and all parameters are is safe/stable running order - making a change for drive-ability could "push" other things out of range..

We will always air on the side of caution... and choose to leave what we know is stable.
