Remember everything you "strip" off your $25-$30,000 vehicle decreases its value. If you want a beater save your money and go get an old CJ - no plastic. It will cost you less in the long run.

I did and have no regrets, nothing to get in the way. don't really care what it looks like as long as it is functional. go for it .

Here's a couple of pics, I'm in the process of making a front bumper and metal front fenders. Just got tired of putting the plastic ones back on.

Is that legal in tennesse to run without fenders? Here in Missouri you can get ticketed. I had a buddy that did a few years ago.

No Fenders in VA big ticket time. Plus I was just talking about the plastic interior but I do like your Jeep, did you paint that?

Check out the January (2010) issue of 4 Wheel Drive & Sport Utility Magazine (Page 56). They outfitted a "plastic JK" with new armor which included new bumpers (of course), rocker panels, rear corner panels and fenders (replaced with better plastic fenders).

It takes berries to paint a 30k dollor Jeep flat black. Let alone take off the flares and other plastic. wow

I'd suggest against metal fenders... The JK's sheet metal behind the fender is so thin that one good rub against a steel fender will cause the body metal behind the fender to buckle. Then you'll be looking at a real mess.

removing the tailgate hinge plastic is a must it looks better without it

who cares about resale value? i don't know what your intentions are, but i'm keeping my JK forever. ok, well i guess if i have a son (or daughter, why not) he'll probably wind up getting it eventually, but that's a loooong way out
