Anyone mounted the KargoMaster Roofrack Base?
Had it on a 2002 Wrangler. Was interesting experience. Overall, give it a thumbs up. Well constructed and rugged. Crossbars are excellent. Even heard someone rolled their Jeep in Moab once and this rack held.
Downside? You have to unscrew the front to put your soft top up and down. Add 5 minutes and will need to keep a socket wrench in the Jeep.
Next you have to lift the rack to create clearance for the soft top. I had to cut a dowel and put a screw in both ends to act as a hoist for the rack. Looked pretty odd when I was putting top up and down. And forget about doing this in a garage.
Finally, it rusts and rattles. Rust is not too bad. Highly recommend sealing the seams. My rust seemed to come from the inside of the rack. Rattle is in the back... where it attaches to the brake light (area). Just cannot get it any tighter. Bet there is a way to use some rubber washers and eliminate the noise? It's pretty subtle. Real noise is from the rack itself. It's not super loud, but with any rack, you are going to hear the difference.
And every once in awhile, the bolts start coming loose in the front... you can hear them.
Sounds like I am ragging on the rack, but it looks sweet. Can't tell you the number of people who commented on it. And once I got a trek top, I never messed with the rack again.
Hope this helps. I posted a picture here > https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/trektop-roof-rack-114896/

I like the rack alot but hate the wind noise (working on that). I have zero rust problems (I sealed all the seams very well) and it is very sturdy
Some pictures of the rack in use, I usually carry two kayaks

Preciate the pics and advice. I observed your pics, and one thing I am curious about (can't find a pic either) is: What happens to your license plate on the driver side? Does the plate holder have to be relocated to function the rack in order to lower a soft top? All the pics for 07-2010 JKs never show the driver/plate side view.....
