Default ARB kicks @ss; I am so glad I went with their lockers vs. the other options ...

OK, I was seriously considering alternatives to the ARB lockers. I wanted something selectable, so I had narrowed it down to ARB or Eaton E-lockers (I didn't consider the OX or even going the Mopar route ala Rubicon e-lockers). In the end I went wtih ARB--Dave @ Northridge4x4 had an *incredible deal* going, which included the high-output compressor and tire pump-up kit for free. I actually saved money overall if you consider the fact that I would still have had to buy an onboard air system had I gone the Eaton route.

Anyway ... so why does ARB kick @ss? Well, I had a few issues with the install and ARB had my back each step of the way. First of all, the wiring harness was defective. After literally 12 hours of troubleshooting with a multi-meter, we determined that one of the diodes in the wiring harness was bad. I called ARB, and they mailed out a new wiring harness, no questions asked! I got impatient, so I cut out the diode and had a new one soldered in before the new one even arrived in the mail (worked like a charm). Now I have an extra wiring harness, just in case.

Next, I had an issue with the "T adapter" that came with the pump-up kit. It was leaking air at the point where it screws into the manifold. I tried teflon paste, teflon tape, cranking it down REALLY hard, etc., but nothing worked. I did not have any issues with the pressure switch when it was screwed into the same location, so I knew I had a faulty T adapter. I called ARB and ... they sent me a new adapter, no questions asked.

Finally, when I had the air lockers installed by Off Road Evo (I had them install only the lockers ... I did the wiring, solenoids, air lines, etc., myself), I failed to provide them with the brass fittings (bulkhead, nipples, etc.). ORE was kind enough to pull some from another kit and install them. Unfortunately, these were the older style (ferrel and support tube) and I wanted the newer style (nipple with compression nut) that I had originally. I called ARB, let them know the situation, and ... they sent me TWO new sets of the nipple, bulkhead fitting, and compression nut.

Wow. What incredible customer service. I remember Eddie posting something a long time ago about ARB's customer service and how that should be a deciding factor when considering ARB versus the other brands. After this experience, I completely agree. I know that should something ever go wrong, ARB will have my back.

I am sorry the forgoing is so long, but I just wanted to put it out there in case someone else is on the fence with their selectable locker decision.

Thanks to ARB, Off Road Evo, and Dave at Northridge for their excellent work and customer service.

Default I miss my ARB lockers

I have the 2010 rubicon now and I hate the locker system. My ARB on my TJ was simple and I hit the toggles and BAM they were in, hit them again put it in neutral and BAM they were off.

I did learn one of the first trips out to not engage when under extreme power. I only turn them on for the minute or two that i need them and then i shut them off. I had broke the rear locker.

You say they kick ass but yet you had alot of problems with them. I would say their customer service is great but not their products. I put ARBs in my YJ and had absolutly nothing but problems with them. I will never go back. The majority of the problems was that the seals decided to leak on me over and over. I had the eaton in my 8.8 and loved it. If i ever bought a selectable locker again i would go with the eaton. But thats just me. Im glad you enjoy them and i hope they work out better for you than me
