Default Aussie Locker

I realize there have been older posts about the Aussie Locker in the JK, but looking for functionality updates: Summer driving, rain driving, trail problems, any issues otherwise? Let me know. It seems like a very inexpensive, and fairly simple upgrade that makes a huge difference on the trail.

Any issues with ESP ?

How about driving in the snow when in 4x4 ?

I have heard that it is not recommended while driving in snow in 4x4 with the possibility of hitting dry pavement = bad results !

All I know of the snow driving is second-hand. Hasn't snowed in NY yet since I got my Aussie.

i put 50 miles a day on the Jeep since it is my daily driver. in 2wd, rain, dry, whatever, there is no problems whatsoever. you only really notice it when turning sharply at slow speeds.

On the trail, it was like night and day for getting through stuff. Where the tires would spin a little in soft stuff, now I can just walk right through it. There's this one hill where I usually wheel that I can't wait to try next winter. Had to get tugged up it last time.

Other than the kachunk sound it makes, on slow tight turns in 2wd such as into a parking space , it's badass offroad. Last off-road trip I went every where the Rubi's went with lockers and similar lift and tires with ease.

Thats the problem I'm having as well..
Just got Aussies verdict on it, they can't explain it and want me to send it back for a refund... The odds are it will work fine for you but theres a chance you will get the ka-chunking that vibrates through the jeep and you can hear it a block away.

it is supposed to do that, and they even tell you in the directions that it is supposed to do it. The reason is that contrary to most opinions, the static position of this locker is in the locked position, but with no torque applies through the drive shaft, it disengaged to turn, thus the ratchet sound. You should worry if you do not hear it. I only hear it during a tight U-turn. No big deal.

this operates very similar to a Detroit. I hated it in the rear of my TJ because of the torque and the short wheel base, but I absolutely love it in the front of my JK. I don't ever get in the snow, but one of my wheeling buddies has one and he has no issues in the snow, but he knows how to drive too.

every locker has its quirks. in 4wheel hi, and high speeds the steering gets a little weird, but a little throttle feathering and you learn it real fast. Don't over analyze this thing. if you like an auto locker you will love it. If you don't, get a selectable.

I love my Aussie, but only for the front.

No it's not even Aussie agrees with that. Ratcheting normal, ka-chunk and jeep shaking, not normal.

I have a detroit locker in the front and it sucks on ice when in 4x4 and turning
the locker won't unlock and it try to drive you straight . In the deep snow it makes a big diffrence how much you can go through But you need to watch out if you start to spin and then your tires grab the axles will snap........
