Aussie Locker Installed
I just finished with the install of the new JK Aussie Locker. (Aussie Locker JK XD-13227 ) It was not very difficult to install with WOL instructions for the TJ. It came with new blue thrust washers. The only thing I had any difficulty with was my cold punch was not long enough. The bench grinder took off enough metal on the punch to get the rolling pin out out the pinion shaft. I would say if your by yourself like I was it takes about 3 hours. I will post up some pics after I download them. I took it out on the road and when I was at a parking lot for a hard left and right turn with the windows down I could here a slight clicking sound. Then I took it to a field to test the system in 4wd. When in 4wd it takes some pressure to get through a turn locked. I didn't find it much different than other Jeeps I have been in with the locker engaged. It make a pronounced click when it releases in the turn though in 4WD. I will test out the locker in earnest out on the trail but I have no doubt what a difference this will make since I have seen it in action on other Jeeps. I paid $299 for the locker to the door at Northridge4x4.com and I think this is a great deal of offroad mod for the money.

The directions for the TJ worked very well with very little different on the JK.
Some things I noted.
I needed to put the key in the ignition and turn the steering wheel to get to the three bolts that hold the axle in.
I had to take two extra large bolts off that were not in the write up to remove the JK brake discs.

When you put the axles back in you need to make sure the wires for the brake system are in the front. I had two bolts in when I realized that I didn't have the wire in the right position.

I have put about 100 miles on it today with no problems. Hopefully it will stay that way!!
I installed my front JK Aussie about 2 weeks ago. I have put about 1000 miles on it so far and have had no issues whatsoever. In daily driving around town, I don't even know its there unless I make a hard turn on the pavement at slow speed. The increased off road capability is well worth it IMO.

Welcome to the world of Aussie!
I have 25,000 miles on my Aussie, and 2 dozen or so rock crawling trips and this thing rocks! (no punn intended
)
Up until very recently the front Aussie was the only locker I had with the rear LSD. The combo was great till I did the Hammers trails in Johnson Valley, CA. Now I have a Rubi E-Locker in the rear to go with my Aussie in the front.
Like was said, on the road, I don't even notice it is there unless I make a U-turn, when I hear the ratchet.
I run the desert and forest rocks, and rarely see snow, so for me, this set up is perfect. It will climb a friggin brick wall!

Has anyone put an Aussie in the rear? Do they even make one for the rear JK Dana 44? I don't want an auto locker in the front, since I use 4 wheel drive in the winter on the roads quite often, but I've been thinking about one in the rear.
Yes, they make one for the rear. You would have to have an open differential though. If you have a LSD diff. you would have to find an open one and replace it.
I've had my locker since the day before they were officially announced. All street driving. Never had an issue.
Yesterday I finally got to offroad with it. Wow! What a difference!
The Jeep just walked through everything I could throw at it.
