Default Aussie Locker Question.

I have a stock Dana 30 in the new Unlimited. With 3:17 gears I believe.
I have 33" tires.
Plans Include an Aussie in front. Would like to do chromolly shafts, and regear.
Will I be able to use the same Locker for 2 different sets of gears? Do I really need Chromollies with 33" tires and a Locker?
Thank You.

Most will tell you yes. But i have an aussie and stock shafts with axle sleeves and c gussets and I run 35's. I have had no problems as of yet and I have done some pretty crazy stuff. You do not want to give it hell and spin the front tires real fast or you will snap a shaft. If you take it easy and crawl you will be ok. Oh by the way your wheeling will get more extreme as soon as you put it in. It's awesome.

As long as you use the same carrier you can reuse your Aussie. There is a standard Dana 30 Aussie and a JK Mopar Dana 30 Aussie. If you have 3.21 gears you will need a new carrier which will normally be a standard carrier and not a JK Mopar carrier so the JK Aussie won't fit . If you have 3.73 from factory you can reuse factory carrier and the JK specific Aussie.

I have 35 inch tires. I have sleeves, gussets and Nitro Axles. Maybe overkill but I did break a ujoint and ear on stock axle.

Everything is correct except that you do not have to have a new carrier if you have 3.21's. The aussie for the JK dana 30 will work. It comes with new crush washers in the box

He asked if he can reuse the Aussie after a regear if he installs in now. If he currently has 3.21 then the answer is more than likely no. He will need a JK Aussie now and a Spicer Aussie later.

No snow in Ga this year to try the Aussie. I do hear locked front axle is not a good thing in the snow.
