auto trans shitfing problems
whatsup guys i recently went wheeling and when i was driving home my jeep was shifting hard and rpms were boucning all over the place. a engine code came up, fault after 2nd gear, dont remember the code # because i cleared it with my flashpaq thinking it would solve the problem. i got driving again and the trans put itself in 3rd gear and wont shift up or down (im guessing the trans reverts to this to save it from blowing comepletely) no engine code has since come up and im stuck in 3rd geard. i took off the the battery terminal and am letting it sit as i write this hoping itll reset itself. it did this once before when i first put my lift and tires on (before i had the flashpaq to clear codes) it fixed itself and has been running fine up until now. im thinking i cleared the code too quickly and now im stuck in 3rd...please help
Are you the original owner? If so, you should be covered.
The transmission may be in limp-in mode.
How do you know it's in 3rd gear?
When you say it's stuck in 3rd, can you select reverse, neutral, or park?

yes i am the original owner but i heard that if u lift ur jeep the dealer can void the warranty. when i say im stuck in 3rd i mean only when i put it in D. reverse and park work fine i havent tried putting in 1 or 2 to see if it goes in to 1st or second manually.
Post if disconnecting the battery for a while changed anything.

Dude! I just put my 2011 in the service dept. at the dealer for the second time. It happened to me in Nov. and just last night. I have 6 codes when it happens. Last time it took them 4 days to fix. It is killing me.
Dealers typically honor warranty unless they prove the lift caused the problem.
Do not, however, answer any questions or surveys about customer service, at least not honestly. Anger the dealer and they might decide to stick to the rules. (Right, WOL?
