Default Axle support

I am a firm believer in big tires. Most of the advice on here is to weld sleeves and gussets to support a Dana 30 with 35"+. I came across the Artec JK Front Axle ARMOR kit for $250 http://www.artecindustries.com/JK-Fr...KIT_p_309.html.

Has anyone used this on their ride? It looks like mad max on the axle.

Plenty of people use the Artec truss kit and it's a great kit. No need for sleeving if you go with it, either. It's plenty sufficient for 35's, or even 40's if you want to go that big.

I'll be putting on my Rubicon sooner or later. Currently running 37's and the only axle beefing I've done in the front it upper c-gussets.

I have the Artec armor kit on my front axle. I had Rebel Off Road weld it in for me because I don't weld. They said it fit great and went in with no issues.

That is a great option! From an engineering stand point, a good truss (that's one of if not the best out there) will offer substantially better strength than sleeves. You'll still want the C gussets, but the truss gives you more bending and torsional strength than sleeves

This thread inspired me to call my local 4x4 shop over lunch today and ask how much I could expect in labor for A) gussets and B) truss. (I can weld somewhat, but if the price is right I don't mind paying knowing that the work would be guaranteed)

I have the d30 and was told I should gusset and sleeve, and that a truss won't do anything other than look good

Is there any truth to that? I would think not, but then again I don't know everything.

Oh, and the quote was for "4-5 hours, so probably around $400 for the install"

A truss is far superior to sleeves. I don't understand why everyone has such a hard on for axle sleeves. Adding a piece of tubing much thinner and with a significantly smaller OD than your axle tube is not going to do much.

This. From engineering stand point, truss kicks sleeves ass. Find someone who really knows what they're doing with a welder and maybe get it done for $50
