Do some MTR's come in a blackwall that you can run on the outside? If you look at the GY website they have pics of rigs running bw on the outside. I wonder if they are a special order item?

Seriously, I would rather run another tire than have white letters out.

"HELLO, 1985 CALLED, They want their whitewalls out back!"

Might as well screw some JC Whitney YOSEMITE SAM Back Off! mudflaps to that rig while you are in the shop!
I rather have my tires hold up in the rocks and have white letters out than look all pretty at the mall but rip a sidewall in the rocks.

Goodyears MTRs are great tires. they are awesome in the rocks. I ripped a 3 inch hole in BF goodrich KM and switced over to MTr with kevlar and have wheeled harder than ever. the sidewalls are holding up awesome for what I have put them through. You made a good decision on your tire purchase. I wouldnt worry about the letters.

Are you talking about Dunn Tire by any chance? I am far from impressed with them. They refused to even try to balance my tires with weight and told me tht the only way they would touch them is if I agreed to used equal powder to balance. They are no better than the quick lube places.

Yep Dunn Tire. Woke up this morning and found the wheel weights have already fallen off the spare. I'm getting sick of dealing with these guys.

Check out Western New York Off Road. they are a local club with a web site. U may want to ask for advice on where to go on their web site. Living in Olean, I have fewer choices on where to get stuff done. Before I got my most recent set of tires and started doing my own rotations, I brought my jeep in to have tires rotated and when I got homw I realized they didnt even do it. Not Happy.

Just to clarify. I have been looking at these tires for a while and you HAVE to mount them white out. You can special order the black out from discount tire. That sucks about all the trouble the shop is giving you. I would give them one more shot at fixing the balance and then call corporate and tell them you want to speak to the regional manager. Should be a very quick fix at that point.

I am going to give the shop another chance. I'm stuck at drill this weekend so I'm just sitting here getting angry. Lol

Don't get me wrong I love the tires. I just wasn't planning on white side out. I also wasn't planning on taking it to the shop three times to get the tires mounted and balanced. Is it normal for a shop to use both stick on and clip on weights on the same tire?

I have had no problem with the Dunn Tire in McKinley or the ones here in Rochester. just be specific with what you want. I told them to be careful of my teflon wheels and put the weights on the inside, etc etc and they did a great job on my wheels.

I suggest you try the one on McKinley. And I also second what Olean said about checking out the other site since it is local to us.

Also, I know that the MTR/K below 35" are white letters, whereas the 35x12.50 and up are black lettered.

You HAVE to have them road force, dynamic balanced with inside and outside weight, or you will have wobble problems. Ask me how I know. Also the tire HAS to be mounted with the side out that says "this side outboard".

Save us all a headache and bust this company out! What are they going to do, not balance you're tires again? If you get done dirty put the name out there and let them defend themselves.

It is a marketing ploy; a gimmick. When you are sitting at a stop light, they want the other drivers to be able to see the brand name so they can sell more tires.
