Default Bad Rake!!

4 door Rubi with hard top originally sat 1.25" higher in the rear as measured from each end of the rock rails to the floor. After adding Mopar steel offroad bumpers front and rear plus the steel skid up front, the difference has increased to 1.75" and that's before adding a winch up front!!

I'm going to add a 2-3" lift and eventually go to 33" tires but will probably run out the 32's first. Did anyone out there have this much rake prior to lifting - I'm curious which brands will effectively lift and level-out the Jeep. I noticed that ProComp sells a 4/2 lift (4" springs in front and 2" spacers in rear). Any guidance would be appreciated!

To each his own but I have always stayed as close as possible to factory rake on all my lifted Jeeps. The rake is there so when you are going down the road, the vehicle rides somewhat flat. If not, the front end would be up in the air affecting things like aerodynamics and gas milleage. And with the square boxes we drive, we need all the help we can get!

On the TJs it was easy. I just bought factory spring isolators and stacked them on top of the ones already there. Never had any issues.

FWIW, mine is stock currently and has the hard top on it. Measuring from the same points as you, my front sits 1" lower. A new front bumper and winch will be added in a few weeks and I will have to address the same issue. The JK factory issolators look slimmer than on the TJ so purchasing a 2nd set to stack may not work. We'll see.

Most coil spring lifts are designed to be slightly higher in front. If you throw a .75" poly spacer up front and use some HD front springs, you may get closer to level but ride a little harsher. Rescue X's Jeep is running with the Shrockworks bumper and Warn Powerplant and he has the HD springs. The headlights are a simple adjustment down.

Just add the spacers, increase your shock length by an extra .75 inches and now you have .75 inches of more down travel.

I have a Daystar 1.75" BB and my rake was sooo bad that I only installed the front spacers, back spacers are still on the bench! Leveled out the jeep great! Threw on a set of SpiderTrax 1.5" wheel spacers and 295/75R16's and voila. Will prolly install the rear ones and an extra set of .75" up front...then a 1"BL to run those 35's!

I added a Rough Country 4" lift and skyjacker 3/4 leveling spacers up front and the roof sits perfectly level. I never liked the look of the rake on my YJ, my TJ or my JK. so for the JK i fixed it. Like i said the roof sits totally level and i like the look, i could care less about aerodynamics, and the headlights pointing more up hasn't been an issue, even if it were, they're adjustable. lastly, the hood lift seems to happen more often on the free way, BUT the denting of the hood at higher speed has completely gone away. Its my third jeep so the hood lift i'm used to , but the fact that the hood would pop in and out at higher speeds always bugged me... it always popped back out but i was always afraid one day it wouldn't. anyway, problem solved. i would recommend you get whatever lift you like/ can afford. If its the 4/2 procomp, keep it the way it is, if its anything else, throw a 3/4 leveling spacer in there. good luck.

I ordered the 2" OME along with FT adjustable track bars for front and rear. We'll see how it goes. It's going to be tricky getting it done right around Christmas - too much time under the Jeep in the garage might keep Santa away!

I've got to get it back up off the ground though, the front end is squatted to the point the lower control arms are actually pointed UP a bit and I'm only about an inch off the bump stops!

Default springs or spacers

What would you recommend HD springs or 3/4" leveling spacers?
