Default bad tire shake when driving?

Hi guys. I was driving my jk to work this morning and the steering wheel and what seemed like the passenger side tire started to shake pretty badly. I slowed down and it stopped. It would be smooth for a little while and then it would start again. Is this an alignment problem or something? My tires are pretty worn and I am getting new tires put on next Monday. What could this be? Thanks for any help!

If its real bad like u feel like ur jeep is being ripped apart it might be death wobble. If not, probably a tire issue. Do you have mud or snow packed in ur wheels? that can cause problems.

if it's speed related, could be it's just out of balance. maybe lost a weight, got mud, snow or ice packed in there funny?

It is pretty bad. I just put a rough country 2.5 bb on this past weekend and had no problems since this morning. The thing is that it did this before the lift as well.
Yea it does seem speed related. When it happens I slow down and it stops like nothing ever happend.

well, as mentioned above. when it happens, it is sudden and violent and to the point where you feel like your jeep will get ripped apart if you don't stop or, does it happen all the time at a certain speed?

Yea it is violent and sudden. Before it seemed to happen around 55-60 mph every once in a while but not every time. Other days it rides perfect.

okay, sounds like you might have death wobble then. you said that you installed a lift not too long ago, have you double checked to see if the track bar bolts are tightend to 125-130 ft lbs of torque? also, have you checked your ball joints to see if they are bad. could be one or both is your problem.

Yup. Pretty much everything that WOL said. Check your track bar, and if that's properly torqued and no holes have been wallowed out, I'd still go in and have the balance on your tires checked. If that's still good, then go through the Planman's Death Wobble checklist. Good luck.

Alright I will check that stuff out. What is weird is this happend when it was stock, otherwise I would think it has something to do with the lift. The rear track bar we put the relocation bracket on that came with the lift and used an impact wrench to tighten it down again. I was kind of waiting to get the new tires mounted and balanced before I got an alignment. Would going with a larger tire and different backspace knock the alignment off if I get one before that? Thanks!

I had a slight wobble every now and then with no lift on my JKU. I just installed a rough country 2.5" BB Sunday and Monday night I had the worst death wobble in the middle of the high way at like 60 on a bridge. Idk what is going on I'm pretty scared to drive my jeep right now !! What do I need to do. I haven't had anything realigned yet because I'm getting new tires tm so I was just going to do everything once the new tires are on could alignment be the issue ??
