U guys need to use the search feature and research Death Wobble. Planman has a great writeup on it and helped me fix my DW. U want to get this figrued out ASAP. If it is DW, a steering stabilizer will NOT fix it nor will re-balance tires. Something is out of whack up front and loose. My bet is its your track bar. Start there. Make sure u have frame and axle side tightened to 125 pounds with torque wrench. Also make sure the bolt holes are not wallowed out. Find planmans DW writeup for other things to look at.

New lift on mine, got the death wobble, its in the shop as I'm typing this to diagnose the problem. Hoping for a cheap fix, but that's never the case. Had a procomp 2.5 with a 1" coil spacer to level put on, then added an adjustable track bar, still wobble, thinking it might be the ball joints.

My turned out to be a loose track bar and after getting DW a couple of times my track bar bolt holes became wallowed out making the problem worse. I fixed the wallowed out problem andnow I check my track bar bolts axle and frame side EVERY oil change and every time I wheel.

Did you make sure that you retorqued your track bar to 125# with the Jeep on the ground? Or check it to make sure that any of the bolts are loose or wallowed out? If the shaking is only at a particular speed and isn't terribly violent, then it could be just a wheel balance issue.

Absolutely. Use the Planman's checklist.

So very, very true. If your Jeep is properly aligned and torqued, then you actually shouldn't even need a steering stabilizer at all.

have you considered adding green loct-tite next time you tighten them down? This worked for me. Just a suggestion...

I am gonna say it's not DW and it's a good chance a tire(s) has damaged radial cords in one or more of the tires since they are pretty worn out or even out of balance. If the problem persists with new tires...then make sure they balanced them correctly if it's still vibrating then I would look at suspension components and ball joints.

Has this worked for anyone else? What is required to loosen a bolt after 'green' loc-tite is used? I dont want to have to cut it off with a torch if i ever want to change my track bar

Muscle If you can't get it off, heat up your socket, keep it on the nut for about 30 sec, then loosen it. Shouldn't have any problems though.

I had the same problem, it turned out to be the tires. How many miles on your tires and what brand are they? I replaced my tires and the problem went away completely! If your tires are the goodyear wranglers, they are probably the culprit. Google them for reviews, they are junk, very prone to cupping

Update: I have been paying close attention to this problem the past couple days. My brother and I checked out the suspension. The track bar was torqued to 130 lbs already. We moved the suspension around, ball joints seemed fine without play and everything seemed tight.

I have noticed that this problem never occurs under 55 mph. I have hit sme pretty aggressive bumps and potholes below 55 mph and it hasn't occured. In fact I went over the same bump on my way home from work at about 65 mph and it started shaking really bad. Today I hit the same place at about 55 mph and nothing.
I also notice it comes on shaking the wheel very slightly, and if I notice and hit the brake, it stops and drives smooth.

Is death wobble throughout any speeds or just at certain ranges normally? I'm getting my new tires and wheels with alignment in a week so I am hoping that will take care of it!
Any suggestions or opinions on this? Thanks a lot!
