I know you can get factory ball joints for about $50 a side so $100 in total. Alloy USA just came out with some for about $150 which are supposedly greasable. I spoke to Northridge and they told me they are getting a set to test. Mentioned that they are either made by Rugged Ridge or will have the label...can't remember. The Prosteers are obviously the top of the line, are rebuildable but are expensive. Synergy makes a nice ball joint as well and run about $250.

Default Avoid MOOG

There are several great aftermarket options out there. I installed Moogs from Advance Auto parts thinking that I could swap them easily under warranty but the problem is that the grease zerk on the lower ball joint sits right under the axle u-joint so you can't grease it easily as preventive maintenance. You have to pull the axle to screw in a right angle zerc otherwise they provide a plug. I tried to find a flush mounted zerk in the 1/4-28 tapered thread but they are not readily available so you'd need to retap the hole before installing another size flush zerk which of course would void the warranty (Moog customer service is terrible and wouldn't even talk to me about a solution because I have a 2012 and they are not "approved" for 2012 wranglers). I finally came up with a way to grease them but is was a pain in the sack. Stay away from Moog and go with one that offsets and recesses the zerk for the lower ball joint. Poly performance may cost a few bucks more but would probably be worth it.

Just finished installing Synergy (same as Poly) ball joints on my passenger side. The lower ball joint zerk is recessed and angled, there will be no problem greasing it. If not looking at Dynatrac ball joints, I haven't found anything better than Synergy ball joints from my research. They feel solid and something that will last.

This would be my choice if I had to do it all over again.

Default love my synergy/pollyperformance balljoints

I upgraded to synergy poly performance ball joints when I ordered my Dynatrac pro rock axle. they are holding up great for the price. I have no regrets on purchasing them again. running 37 1250 R 18 super swampers

If you are going to take out your old ball joints to weld the C gussets, I would strongly recommend replacing them at the same time. If you've never done ball joints before, you will not imagine how much pain they are to replace. I wouldn't want to do it twice.
