If I recall, Rednroll has a big write up about various batteries you might be interested in reading. Might search for his user name with keyword "battery". I personally just went with Duralast gold from autozone when my factory battery died, but it was an urgent spur of the moment thing. It's been fine for 3 years, but think it's getting close to time to replace again.

My choice of the Odyssey was based on that write-up. I also prefer the marine version because it provides an extra set of posts for accessories.

Still a work in progress, I keep getting interrupted (work/family life) and forgetting to come back to finishing this up. I have updated it some. I'm still searching for that magic bullet balance between performance and price like in the past with the Sears Die-hard platinum which was made by Enersys/Odyssey. I actually found some leads on Motorcraft batteries for Ford vehicles, which seemed to be made by Enersys at a good price, but getting the specs and manufacturer confirmation seemed to be challenging without going to a Ford dealership and reading that info off the batteries.

Anyways, here's my latest revision. The "best" are Enersys and Northstar manufactured brands. Northstar was formed from some engineers that left Enersys and created their own company but both Northstar/Enersys brands I've identified so far are on the high side of prices. I still need to get some more info on the Advanced Auto Parts line of AGM batteries as well to find out who makes them and their current specs.

The Enersys Odyssey "Performance" series is a pretty good balance between price/performance when compared to the East Penn offerings which tend to be the best value. So I added that to the list.

I'm in year 7 with a Sears Die-hard platinum which was made by Enersys/Odyssey.

I think it depends on your need and your budget. I don't use my Jeep hard and don't have auxiliary stuff to power. For the last 20 years I've only used the MAXX Everstart batteries from Walmart in my vehicles & my kids vehicles. I've never had one fail or let me down prematurely. My 2012 jku has had one in for 3+ years. I think it cost $125.

Everything on this list is still currently available right? I thought I recalled from a previous thread that there was a sears one you really liked but that it wasn't around anymore, but maybe my memory is fuzzy. That Sears Diehard looks like a decent option for the price.....and Mark is having good luck with it...impressive for his kind of use too. I might look at that one. Is there some reason you have those 3 data fields under the East Penn batteries highlighted, or was that just by mistake?

@ resharp001 - no, the Sears Die Hard Platinum Marine is no longer offered. That's why I went with the Odyssey.
