Are BBs ok?
Hi everyone, to start I have looked through the FAQ on different lifts and what will be needed. I then talked to a shop near me and bascially got scolded for wanting a 2"-2.5" BB and that it was unsafe, and that the 2 inches was on the cusp and so on and so on. I orgianlly wanted a BB since my Jeep is my daily driver and am willing to get everything I need to (not half *** it). Since I see so many running BB was this guy just looking to get me to spend more or is there some validity in what he said??
I've wheeled my rubicon to it's full extent on coil spacers without an issue. I prefer spacers over coil budget boosts myself.
There is nothing unsafe about them besides raising the center of gravity. Like any lift

X3 on what Echo and Goody have said.
I bought the Teraflex 2.5 BB since I wasn't ready to drop the $$ for new driveshafts after a coil lift since I'm a 2 dr auto. Granted I do not get the same flex as others do with a proper coil lift, but I do not see anything unsafe at all with this type of lift. It is my DD and have had zero issues since installing it. The TF kit does a great job including the rear TB and brake line drop brackets. IMHO it is the most complete kit as far as BB's go.
For my build plans it made the most sense for now until I make way for new shafts, bumpers and winch. Then I'llprobably be looking at a 3" proper coil lift.

My BB looks and feels great. I also added spacers for a wider stance.

You'll be fine with a BB. If you add lots of after-market gear (heavy bumpers, winches, racks, etc), then you should opt for a coil lift because the new springs won't sag like the stock springs. I ran with a BB doing some pretty good wheeling for a couple years before heavy weight necessitated my upgrading to a coil lift.
I wonder if this is another one of those pick-up truck things that make no sense for Jeeps. If this shop is a pick-up truck shop, find one that is used to Jeeps. Or, better yet, just do it yourself. Ask and I'll bet someone local on this forum will say, "Heck yeah, bring it over and we'll get that installed!"
