3.25" BB here on 35's. It is my DD and I drive 120 miles a day. I love it.
Go back and tell that guy to fuck off.

Rusty's Offroad has a 2'' coil lift that gave me 3'' after the springs settled on my 2 door. A door would get closer to 2.5''. I HIGHLY reccomend them though. The ride quality is close to stock, and was about $400 shipped. I did the labor myself. All you need is a torque wrench, floor jack, stands, spring compressor (rent one from autozone), sockets, a racheting wrench for the shock towers, and a vice to push in the brushings.

Im looking to run 33s, and figured the budget could be flexable. Wanted to get a kit that would have all or as much of the stuff I need for a it all. Ill start looking through the vendor sites.
