I'm curious about this also, I'm in the process of putting Poison Spyder Spyder locks on my JK. It concerns me a bout safety, but from what I've read, as long as you maintain them, you shouldn't have problems. I plan on doing just that and checking the bolts often. Too late to worry about it now, I guess.

I have a set of walker evans and a set of Trail readys. I drive them to and from the trails. I dont drive them four hours at a time because of the rubber wear. I have never lost or broken a bolt. Remember to deflate the tire before routine torquing. Baja racer's are intrusting their lives on their dependability. But they are vigilant about performing the required maintenance.

This is true. One thing though is dont over torque the bolts. More is not better. I have been running walker evans wheels for 3 years know and I have never had a issue.

It would depend on the state laws but also on whether or not they figured out what the wheels were. It would depend on the investigating officers and other parties involved as well. For example, many of us would know to look at modified rigs if wheel came of etc.

1) Beadlocks are definetly not 'set and forget' on a daily driver like a normal wheel

2) I 'will' have them one day (WE)

3) My main concern with the 'law' is that IF you are involved in a bad accident, both the insurance co's and the law will look for anything on your part or vehicle that would/could have caused the wreck and thus put you at fault and, in the insurance companies eyes void coverage!!

When I did the Rubicon Trail this summer, I aired down to 8 lbs. with no problems. That was the lowest I had ever run. This is just my opinion - if you keep the tires about 4 or more inches wider than the wheel (ie: 12.50 on a 7 or 8" wheel) the bead, even at lower pressures, will exert more pressure on the wheel rim. Again - JMHO
