Default Bedliner or spray paint question

I have taillight covers that have paint starting to chip off and rust in some spots. What do I need to put on it that will protect it from this happening again?

I would sand blast them and repaint. If you don't have a sand blaster, another good way to prep them is with muratic acid. Once you have all the loose paint and rust removed coat with self-etching primer. I would do a minimum of 2 coats each (Primer, Paint, Clear coat).
