I think the trek weighs about 250 lbs. The rock hard around 200 lbs. I convinced myself the extra weight down low will help keep my COG down near the trail.

How come everybody makin skid plate systems just ignores the hell outta the evap canister area??? I mean, you can get one seperately, but nobody I've seen has one included in an entire system. That just nuts.

I am guessing most of these companies are assuming people are relocating their canister rather than wanting to skid it. If I was paying for a full belly system like the Treks I would want it to protect everything though including the evp canister.

RockHard has a skid and also offers a relocation bracket. I did the RH relocation bracket as it seems silly to skid something that shouldn't be there in the first place and is so easy to move.

FWIW I've got the RockHard skids and beat the dickens out of them recently. We spent the week between Christmas and New Years wheeling in Moab and let me tell you things are a bit different when covered in snow. Your lines simply can't be as good and you smack things more. Knwing I was well armored underneath helped a lot.

Another poster mentioned COG and weight down low. I agree and don't really mind adding weight as long as it is low. You really feel that way after following a few Land Rovers rigged up like they're going on an excursion in the plains of Africa with a roof rack loaded to the gills. Much as I'd like a roof top tent I'll go through the hassle of setting up a regular tent just to keep the weight low.

woods evap relocation kit is much cheeper than buying a skid plate. $60.00 at jeep swag. No brainer
