what are the benefits of a stubby front bumper over a full-sized steel bumper? i'm debating between a mopar winch front bumper, an LoD or a Jeeperman stubby front. any opinions?
I do not mean to hi-jack or bash a sponsor, but has anyone else questioned why PureJeep decided to use a bolt on D ring shackle mount? A bolt on would be nowhere near as strong as a mount welded into both ends of a fully boxed bumper. I guess the one positive aspect of the bolt ons is that if you get really stuck your mounts will come off before you bend the frame with the weld ons. For stubbies I'd recommend the shrockworks bumper and for the full widths the AEVs look pretty cool but $. If you want something between stubby and full size the Tera bumper is coming out pretty soon and looks pretty nice. If I had to get a bumper right now I'd get an uncoated shrockworks stubby and have a shop weld on a nice looking radiator hoop and winch guard/mini stinger with some bracing connecting the two. Rock playing in the rocks a stubby would be more functional because it would give you more clearance and better approach angles. For protection against trees and who knows what else the full size bumpers protect the fenders a bit better. Don't mean to be repetitive btw

Sorry I didn't see that it was actually bolted into the frame no need to get jumpy. I seriously thought it was just bolted into the front of the bumper. Makes a bit more sense now as to why they chose that design. Next time I'll have to do a bit more homework...
No apologize necessary. I just wasn't sure if you were really being serious.
In all honesty, I don't think there is a stronger D-ring mount available for the JK today. Of course, this is not to suggest that any of the aftermarket bumpers have weak mounts, just that this is the only one that bolt directly to the frame.

i personally dont like that design, as clean as their bumpers look, they could have welded the d-ring mounts to the bumpers (part of the reason i went with Schrockworks bumper over the PJ)
