Default bent axle question

when someone has a bent axle does that mean it has a dent? or does the tube bend? if the latter does it normally bend at the diff? and most importantly was the repair?

It's the axle tube itself that bends. Not sure if it's at the pumpkin or not, but does it really matter? I believe the only realistic fix is a new axle housing. All the internals should be able to be re-used.

Unless it is the axle shaft that is bent. In that case the housing could be fine and the shaft(s) needs to be replaced.

A bent housing means the steering won't align; a bent shaft means the wheel is wobbling. Worst case: both are bent.

Are you asking about front or rear? Were you told you have a bent axle shaft or housing? What is the problem/symptom?
