Synthetic rope comes down to the type of terrain you wheel in, IMO. If your gonna be dragging your rope across sharp rock, I'd stick with wire.

I just chose synthetic because I thought it'd be safer to handle and would last long. I would only be using it probably only a couple times a year and won't be doing any rock crawling just yet, just trail rides

Synthetic rope is prone to deteriorte when exposed to UV Rays. Ya should buy a cover for ya winch if you want maximum lfe out of your rope. With that said, its much more easier to handle

I went with a Warn M8000 on Cyber Monday when they were 10% off. ALMOST got a ENGO 9000 but decided against it. This thread is making me second guess my decision. But the Warn already showed up so I'll likely be keeping it.

I bought a Engo and it has been good to me. I recommend synthetic rope use it on my ATV and it's really nice. You can get a cover for your winch from Engo for $20.

Not if your closest tree is 90 feet away and you only have 100 feet of winch line.

You can use tow straps to lengthen winch line.

Subscribed because I want one as well and y'all's experience is very helpful. Some other questions I would like to ask is there a certain test "lbs" that we should stay close to? I.E. 6-8k for a JK's and 8-10k for JKU's? Recommend accessories like ARB recovery kit? Difference/Pro and Cons between the wire and synthetic line? Thank you.

A general rule of thumb that I have read in a couple places is your winch should be at minimum 1.5 times the weight of your rig.

Wire - pros: won't cut as easy on sharp rocks
not affected by UV rays
usually cheaper the synthetic
cons: heavy, harder to handle
can fray and have sharp birms/edges
snaps back when it breaks
Synthetic - pros: will not snap when it breaks, drops dead
easier to handle/lighter
cons: UV rays burn it up/rots
more expensive

I have a superwinch tiger shark 9500. You can get one with a steel cable for $350 or with a synthetic rope for $500.
Unlike some of the other winches the solenoid pack is seal so mud, water, road salt will not not be a problem. At a maximum pull of 95000ibs it only draws 340amps. The clutch is a Pull and Turn to disengage/engage.
