If you have seen fast and furious 5 you know you can pull a bank vault down the road with one( with the right cable) I'm just saying....

As stated earlier, you have to decide what is best for you: type of wheeling, terrain etc. I'm always a fan of tires and a lift... IMHO

Even if you don't get the winch, some solid bumpers with stong recovery points would not be a bad choice. They don't have to be terribly expensive, they'll add a visual upgrade to your rig, and are highly functional. Headlights are a huge issue on the JK, but you can start with some upgraded bulbs and see how you feel. But for cost of a front winch and bumper, you could probably get a nice front and rear bumper and put the winch on the wish list. I've banged the crap out of my bumpers, but I've never been in a situation where I "needed" a winch thanks to the group I wheel with. I absolutely WILL own a winch some day so don't take this as being anti-winch, that would be foolish, they are very valuable and important, just maybe not "first mod" important. my

Best first mods are the free ones. bedline grill or chopped fenders... that was just me.
window tint and headlights would be next in my book.

If you have people to wheel with, It's say get new bumpers with good recovery points, then tires and winch. I got a front bumper and winch as my first mods. I go out alone a fair amount of the time, nothing crazy but it made me feel better to have the winch. Tires followed soon after. I got tired of the stockers sliding around under my Jeep as soon as they got a hint of moisture on the rocks and in the mud.

haha grab handles. True. I would consider getting the interior of your jeep line-x'd. It looks great and makes protecting and cleaning the interior so much easier!
