I have the D30 will the D44 axles fit?

I have 33" heavy Nitto Trail Grapplers and still have the 3.21's. In an auto. I wouldn't go above 4.10's if you're not going above 33's.

Direct replacement, the housings are basically the same. Just unbolt your current axles and bolt the new (used) rubi housings on. The front 30 and 44 even use the same brakes/hubs, so you can swap those over if not included. Then you would just need to run the wires for the lockers and mount switches.

This is assuming of course that you can find a set for a decent price. Some folks on here have scored great deals, sometimes even getting lucky and finding rubi axles that were already upgraded/re-inforced. And others spend months and months looking and never find a set, or at least don't find a set for a price they can live with. Anyway, just a heads up to look around and compare your options/needs/goals.

I have 2014 JKU Sport with 3.21's.

Will 33's with my 3.21's be horrible?? If I were to go 35's I was going 4.56..but with the 33's I was thinking 3.21 would be fine as a DD?

It's not bad on flat land, but when you start going on the trails in the mountains, that's when you can tell you need more gear. I had 4:88's in my 08 JKU with 35's and it was a blast to drive.

I run 33 toyo open country muds on a 12 with 3.21s in tx. Awesome daily driver with plenty of power; even considering going to 35s with no gear switch until 37s or bigger someday maybe. Not saying i won't change my tune after going to 35s but 33's on 3.21s on my 12 is more than fine for me. My 2 cents

2012 JK Rubicon with 4.10 gears and 285/70/17 Goodyear MTK's. Perfect setup, I live at 4k and often wheel up to 10k.

I bet you feel this way because you never have re-geared and felt the difference. There is a reason people are saying go 4.10's.

I have a 6spd 2012 that had 33s and 3.21- it sucks!

Manageable but long trips going 55-65 suck.

I switched to 4.11s and it is perfect. On the highway at 70 or so my rpms are a bit high(around 25-2600)

I wanyt 4.56 but with 33s 4.11s are money. I will be okay going to 35s too and still keeping it in the happy range.

Offroad the vehicle crawls so much better now.

O.K. after reading a lot of post I think this is what I am going to do. I have a set of 3:73 gears that came out of my 08 that have little miles on them. I am thinking of going with them and doing a Detroit Truetrac Limited Slip Dana 30 up front and nothing in the rear. I am on pavement 85% of the time and only on trails during vacation, so 3:73 should be better then the 3:21's, but still have better highway manners. The reason for the 3:73 instead of the 4:10's is I already have the 3:73's and the 4:10's are expensive, plus it's only 1 gear size.

Is there any reason I should not put a set of used gears back in? They had about 20k on them when I took then out. This jeep is going to be my 10 year old sons when he get's 16. With the 3:21's and 33's its not bad until you get on the trail and at highway speed.
