Best Reference Point for Finding Level?
What is a "good" reference point for determining you have a level Jeep front to back after installing a lift (other than the way it appears visually)? I've read many threads on how people are measuring lift height from the fenders, etc. but it seems like the front and rear fenders are not at the same height from level ground so would not be a good reference for level. Maybe I'm wrong. The best point I have come up with so far is the bottom of my Mopar rock sliders front and back.
I'll tell you what I did and let you figure out what it's worth. But, a brief history: After installing the RC 2.5" BB my Jeep felt like it was too high in the front. I'd never noticed it being raked from the day I bought it new, as so many folks comment, so figured it was just my perception. However, as I would look at my Jeep when parked, it always looked front end high--this is with just the RC BB (and some rock rails, BTW). Then after installing the Shrockworks mid-width and Warn PowerPlant, it felt as if the front end was definitely lower. My son also commented on it. So, we took it to a parking lot and checked the level of the lot. Perfect. Then we placed the four foot level on the rock rails. Perfectly level. And, when I stand back and look at the Jeep, it looks perfectly level. No extra pucks required after placing all of the weight on the nose (full disclosure: Hauser fairlead and synth line installed). So, I believe I'm level, and can't understand why folks are having to add extra height to their front after replacing the bumper and adding a winch. And, I've never measured at the fenders for the reasons you state (heck, I have measure left to right front fender, and even that's not the same!!!).
