Just to chime in a bit - the best place and probably the cheapest (at least up here in Calgary) is go to a crane rigging and supply shop. They will build you a winch line for a price way less than a winch suppliers price. Me? I use steel lines that stay lubed with oil - never seen a CAT D8 with a synthetic winch line. And you have to be weary of UV light effect on them.
