Go to trunkandwinch.com and order their Recon 10,500lb winch with synthetic line for in the $400 region! Wouldn't recommend anything else.

I would love to have a warn powerplant or zenon, but I don't have the funds. I know I have seen threads on the forum about winches, but was unable to find them when doing a search. My budget is limited to $800 max. As much as I would love synthetic rope, I am not sure I can afford it in my price point.

I would love to hear what y'all reccomend and if anyone has any review post can they provide a hyperlink?

Then any sugguestions on where to purchase? Who has the the best deals and customer service?

I guess it is better to have and not need than need and to not have...Or at least that is what I keep telling myself to justify the purchase of a winch
I want to thank everyone for all the input and advice. I'm sure any of the winches mentioned would work well for me, but I have my mind set on a warn. I can't decide on the power plant or zeon. Since I am not sure and don't want buyers remorse, I have decided to go a different route. I purchased a sPod and 10" Rigid light bar from Northridge. They should be here soon and will allow me to continue to build while saving up for the winch of my dreams! LOL.

In the future when you purchase stay away from the powerplant. Go zeon. Number 1 killer of winches is heat and moisture. What do compressors produce? Heat and moisture. I know 3 ppl that have had powerplants fail

If you guys are cheap like me but still want a decent winch, just keep your eye on your local craigs list or other local for sale board, even put out an ad that you are looking for a used winch. got my M8000 warn for $200 dropped off at my door. I took it apart, cleaned everything, greased everything, siliconed it up for better water proofing, then coated it in bed liner. Under $250 and it looks and performs like new, I have no idea howold it is but as long as the solonoids look good it should always work.

Also for those that dont think a M8000 would work very good on a 4 door, I have had no issue pulling my jeep out of deep mud, up hills and out of snowy ditches. It has pulled ford diesels out of rivers and flipped cars back on thier wheels. Just get a nice snatch block and the 8000 will pretty much do what you want.

CLIFF NOTES: Buy used, add elbow grease, love your cheap used refurbished winch. Abuse it knowing you dont have 800-1200 bux invested into it

I did the same thing and craigslisted my M8000. Has worked like a dream except for when it was -5 degrees out and my wireless remote died! Then I had to go pull the wired remote out.

Over christmas Amazon had the warn m8000 for $485. (585 with 100 rebate)

It has pulled more than a few vehicles out of fender high mud and snow. One flipped over jeep back up right and saved me plenty of times!

A winch on its own isn't always enough. I have a bag full of tree saver straps, snatch straps, 3 snatch blocks, shackles, Hi Lift, full sized shovel and axe and plenty of other recovery gear.

Wow, good advice. I haven't heard that about the power plant. I guess I will go with the zeon and an on board air system. I looked at Jeepswag, but it didn't look like he had an OBA system for 2013 JK's. Any reccomendation there?
