Default Bigger tires question

Ok so I bought a set of moab rims (5 of them) off a X model unlimited to replace my 18"stockers on my sahara. I would like a fairly aggresive mud tire like a BFG,hankook dynapro, etc that doesn`t cost an arm and a leg. I am not going to rock climb or anything..just like the look and want wider than the 255/75/17 cause I think those look a bit skinny.

I have no lift nor want to use wheels spacers so what is the biggest size I can run and it not rub at full turn, taking a sharp(sharp for a jeep) turn?
I was thinking about a 285/70/17 if they will fit OR a 265/70/17 but read that was smaller than a 255/75/75 so I am not sure what to go with. Any pics or suggestions would be very helpful

I did read 33's will fit but I have also read they sometimes rub and I don`t want the tires to look too big seeing I have no lift if that makes sense...

I just put 285/75 R16 pro comp x-terrains on my stock jeep. They look good...doesn't look funny without a lift. They don't rub at all on the street either.

Those are 16" though or does that make a difference?

Here is a photo of our JK with 33x12.5R17 Cooper STT's stock....and I had zero issues with rubbing lock to lock just had issues off-roading with the rear stock fenders the tires would rub when flexing.

With a 2" budget boost with shocks helped with the clearance of the fenders off-roading.

Thanks for the pics but those are aftermarket wheels with different back spacing I am sure ..I need to know about using 17 inch moab wheels(stock on the rubicon and X unlimited) with bigger tires.

Default I rub with new tires

Disclaimer: I am a complete newbie!

I just put 285/70R/17 BFG KM2s on my Unlimited X and I do rub. I thought it was rubbing against my stock front skid plate so I trimmed it a bit but that didn't help. I am guessing that I need to put on a set of spidertrax? That sound correct to anyone?

Hope I didn't derail your thread , but maybe my situation will help you.

I went against everything I read here when I got my tires and allowed the sales guy to talk me into 33" 12.5 instead of the 285's that I came in ready to buy. Anyway, he told me it wouldn't rub, etc. Well they put them on and guess what? Yeah, they "rub a little" at full turn. Moral to the story is they're giving me one helluva deal on spacers!

Hope it helps.

That's why you always have them mount one and try it before you buy...

You just need to add 1 to 1.5" spacers to fit the 33x12.50's. Rims I have on are 4.5" BS.
