Which Bilstein Shocks for RE 2" Spacer System?
I have a 2008 JK Sahara Unlimited (stock configuration). I'm interested in the Rubicon Express 2" Spacer System (without shocks), and I want to upgrade to Bilstein 5100 Shocks. I was online at Quadratec and I believe the correct Bilstein shocks are Item #16070.216 (front) and 16070.217 (rear). They state these are for JKs with 2-3.5" lift (which is presumably what mine would be after I install the spacer system). Seems straightforward, but since I was online I initiated a Live Chat with Quadratec to confirm my assumption, but got a convoluted answer about going out and measuring my current shocks in a flexed and unflexed position... Maybe he misunderstood my question.
Am I missing something here? If I add a 2" spacer system then wouldn't I buy the shocks specifically listed as being for a '07-'12 JK with 2-3.5" lift?

I think you are right about that, maybe he misunderstood the question. Most of the kits also come with shock adapters for using stock shocks to make up the difference of the lift when installing the kit. At least that is how I think it works!

There are a lot of variables to be asking a guy about shocks for your "lifted" jeep. Depending on your spring rate( rubicon, sahara, BaseX, and ulimited) are usually different, your puck height, bumpstop height etc. Your jeep may sit different compared to someone elses with the same 2"BB kit. Because of these variables the salesman wanted you you flex your jeep to see what is your maximum and minimum shock travel is so he knows your shock will not be hitting its limits. -Jon
