Default Bilstien 5100 broken

I got a aev dualsport sc 3.5" lift from quadratec and my buddy is installing it. I got a call from him today that when he lowered my jeep off the jack he heard a snap and thought he broke his jack but once he looked his jack was fine. My shock snapped. Any thoughts?

Just looks like a defect. Call Quadratec OR Bilstein and see if there is a local dealer by you where you can get a faster warranty trade out (possible same day that way) I would call Bilstein first, that way local dealer can hook you up and Bilstein will send that dealer a replacement.

Bilstein has a great warranty so give them or the dealer who you bought them from a call. I had one start leaking about a year after I put them on and it was replaced without question. My only concern with yours (based on the pic) is that you removed the rubber boot. Someone told me that voids the warranty but I have no actual supporting documentation for that since my original broken shock still had the boot on it.

Most of the issues Bilsteins have are leaking issues. This is the first time I've seen one snap like that. Guessing just a defect from the factory. A strange one at that.

I was flagged down on the road today because my shock pin had broke and I was dragging my skyjacker shock on the road. Couldn't even tell!

I guess the great thing about breaking things is you get to upgrade, bought my first set of teraflex fox reservoirs...

Default Billstein 5160

I have Billstein 5160s and when I installed them, I immediately noticed one was leaking. Called Billstein and they had a replacement to me within a few days. They were really cool and said sometimes a bad shock can get out to a customer. Once replaced, I am on year 3 and they look brand new.
