Bimini/soft top/mesh
Let me start with my situation. 2015 hard top unlimited. I have a wife who is not found doors/tops off much ever and two young children who love it....when the weather is right. I live in Missouri...where if the weather is right....it will likely be wrong in a few hours. Lol. For example. Yesterday we enjoyed the 4rth and a close friends. I took the top off and we enjoyed the 30min backroad drive there. When we came home, it was late, boys tired, temps down in the 60's and damp. Basically wife And kids not happy.
So now I want to work towards some option to make that change in temp in the future more barable.
mesh tops:
would this block much wind if doors/windows are up....maybe keep in some heat?
bimini:
i assume this would work better, but does it store easily in jeep? Would it also offer good protection from pop up shower? I enjoy true open top...but would be nice if I could have cut a lot of wind last night....or if it started raining....my wife would have killed me...literally. Lol.
i fear I may need to invest in factory style softtopi for true on the fly top on/off availability...but wonder if I can at least buy some time as I'm trying to get my lift related mods first. Lol.
Any advice or detail you all can give is appreciated. I know there are a lot of threads that are similar...but honestly they are filled with people saying what they have...and not really giving details as to why they have for example...a mesh and Bimini...or mesh and soft...etc.
p.s. I have a garage with top hoist so I can remove store hard top easily. More a matter of getting some protection when out and weather gets uncomfortable for family.

Now I throw a tarp over it when parked overnight in the rain cuz its not a "car cover" its just an emergency top to keep u dry when caught in a storm
This is with just the bikini
With the trek top nx... Does it take long to go from no top to bikini top. I know people say it takes a while to go from no top to full top...but I guess that could be more because of the back panels/windows? Or...does the bikini portion store easily if I wanted to go no top and take just the top piece with us

I go from fully naked to complete (doors and top) in 30min. Timing depends on a few things. Imbue leave ur door surrounds on then it'll be a lot faster. Plus I do a lot of wandering back and forth while doing it. I have done it pretty fast before when I was rushing. I don't know why people say it's hard. If I'm out and decide to drop the top while I'm out I can put the top and windows back on in 5 min flat. It stores very easily.... Can be rolled up pretty small but it's still as wide as the header bar. I live in a 1bdrm apt and store everything in the closet with room to spare!
I was also considering that since the hardtop is primary and not hard to take off.... I could do something like this. (Cheaper, which is fine since wouldn't be used that much). The tonnue cover would be nice and if the Bimini doesn't take up much space when hauling... Might be just enough to block the mildly uncomfortable weather. The wind jammer looks almost useless though as it has huge gaps on the sides....I don't know...

If you do decide on the Trektop nx just check out this thread, you can go full topless without have to worry about storing it.

I have the trektop NX too, works wonderfully, keep in mind if you install the trektop you will not be able to keep that on and still use the hardtop, it's either one or the other, unless you want to spend 30 minutes removing the trektop everytime. It is a great soft top, let's you run bikini easily which is how I prefer it. But if it rains you just put the windows on, there are plenty of threads on how to carry the windows with you with some rolling and putting under the rear seats .

Thanks for the info. I had pretty much wrote off the nx because people made it sound very inconvenient to go full topless when out. But if I can go from topless to bikini in a few minutes while out...that is good enough to be considered improvement over the hard top. (During summer)
If you decide to go factory soft top, I cannot recommend enough to keep an eye on CraigsList for a used one. Seems like they are there all the time for very cheap for the JKU. With the factory setup, I can remove or put back up the top in less than 5 minutes with one person. I really like the look of the NX, but love how easy it is to remove or put back up the factory top. I got mine used for one year for $350.
