Question BL/inner shifter boot question...?

OK... so you guys with the 6 speeds and body lifts are cutting the inner boot.
are you just leaving it like that...?

is anyone covering this "cut out area" with silicon or anything, or just leaving it...???

ok ok, color me stupid or something, but the boot is there to keep dust and mud and crap out right..? so, does this now fill up with crap?

i havent looked, but whats UNDER the inner boot?? is it "somewhat sealed" from "stuff" that could get in there...?

sorry, but something about cutting a section out of a seal, and leaving it... just doesnt seem right.

help a brother feel better about cutting the boot so i can get this BL on.

i just left mine as but only because putting anything there would create the very problem you were trying to fix. the only bummer thing about this is that you do hear road/tranny noise more and of course, it is an opening to the outside so deep water crossing could let water in.

i did finally find Sasquatch's fix about the time people gave me the link.

i guess that wold work, it does come off pretty easy, but the tranny does "dance around" pretty good while off roading. I hope it would hold up to all that, and the jug does keep it from erroding.
