Hi guys

I am a new Jeep driver and have a 2012 Wrangler Sport with a Teraflex 2.5" lift and BFG A/T 33x12.5x15 tyres.

The car is used 75% for sand dune driving here in Dubai and 25% for running about as a 2nd car.

The ESP is pretty useless when sideways on a big dune and the ESP Off button doesnt really help, so I did the 'switch under the dash/wire cut mod.'

I am very happy with the mod. ESP and roll over protection on the dunes does not help.

What would help would be BLD..... Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the roll over and ESP but keep BLD?

I assume it is all in the one function.

The mod I did was to splice in a toggle switch into the wire, near the drivers right foot. As per:

Turns esp off but keeps BLD active

BLD only works in 4wd, and I don't think it is linked to the ESP, There was a good video on YouTube about how it works, I will post it in a minute if I can find again

I had my jeep stuck in deep snow and BLD was active. I also had the kill switch mentioned wired up I hit it BLD was no longer active. I might be mistaken but I believe BLD uses ABS sensors the kill switch kills esp bas and abs therefor BLD is not active.

 

In 4 low ESP is completely off and BLD is supposed to work in 4 lo but I guess they could make it turn on or off whatever parts of the system they wanted to :dunno:

 

Not sure exactly how it works but I do know the kill switch mod killed BLD for me I stopped using the switch and did the jeep dance to turn ESP off and BLD is active.

BLD works on any driven axle, 2WD, 4HI or 4LO, and cannot be disabled except by cutting wires.
