I believe this is correct ^^^

BLD is a completely separate system from ESP

Hi guys

Firstly, i am really sorry for calling my Jeep a CAR!!!! I know its a Jeep thing. Being a new Jeeper, i am sure i while 'get it' fairly soon. I sold my VW Golf GTi to by my Jeep. So i am at least going in the rite direction!!!!

Lots of good info posted, thanks.

'Not sure exactly how it works but I do know the kill switch mod killed BLD for me I stopped using the switch and did the jeep dance to turn ESP off and BLD is active.'

I will go out, hopefully today, and give it a test. This is exactly what i want. Thanks, Itsajeepthing91.

I am fairly sure the ABS, BLD and ESP use the same wheel speed pickup, but what they do with the info is controlled by different things. It could be all one big computer, or separate computers, it doesn't really matter to us.

I will find a nice hill, and get 2 wheels on the sand and keep 2 wheels on the black stuff and do some tests. Normal, Dash ESP Off, Wheel dance ESP Off, Kill switch, all in 2wd, 4hi and 4lo.

Will report back. Thanks guys.

Regards
Paul

Hi guys

I went out to play.....I could only find a flat road with nice soft powdery sand on the side.

Yes it is like Itsajeepthing91 said.
BLD works when the 'steering dance' ESP turn-off method is used.

BLD works in 2wd and 4hi. Sorry, i didn't try 4lo.

Full ESP (i.e. normal mode) is horrible on the sand. It keeps braking the Jeep (i have learned, its not a car) to stop sideways drifting and wheels spin etc.

ESP off (but still retaining BLD) is better, but i don't like it. I had 2 wheels on a 'dusty' smooth tar road and 2 wheels in the soft powdery sand. The BLD would stop the wheels spinning, but the Jeep felt like it had a 500cc engine. No power on the wheels, and hot brakes. My test had vastly different traction on left vs right, but still poor.

ESP and BLD for sand really sucks. I far prefer the ESP kill switch, for now. I am going on a big drive tomorrow, and will experiment some more.

I am leaning to 2x Eaton/Detroit Truetrac LSD, with the Kill switch. Should be better for me!!!

Thanks for all the input guys.

Regards
Paul

Good vid. It works in 2WD, too, as per the manual and my personal experience.
