I'm researching air compressors too and curious if anyone has found a tank that fits in the rear storage compartment? If so, what are the pros and cons of the compressor used? I can't help but wonder what size and quality the compressor would be due to the size...errr...lack of size of the compartment.

Thanks!

There are some good pictures of other setups here: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...Storage&page=2

I know somewhere on the forum I saw a rig with the compressor mounted in the rear storage compartment - mounted sideways with rubber spacers, but I don't think the cover fits with the compressor mounted...

Sorry for the delay in response here!! Yes we have a metal filter housing that will work for that Just let me know. As far as waterproof.............hmmmmmmmmm no they are not water proof they are water resitant. And with that being said if you were to ensure that the compressor had a constant source of fresh dry air in any given situation aside from mounting it to the outside of a submarine it shoud do just fine if at some point it becomes submerged for a short period of time. BUT - if during a submersion it shoudl happen to take on water from an intake port leak of some kind it will not be covered under warranty. I think I covered myself on that one. And I did recieve a call awhile back form a guy in Louisiana who's truck was a total loss after the hurricane who told we that the only thing still operational on the truck were the compressors FWIW.

I went and visited Sean at VIAIR so that he could do some measuring under my 2dr JK. They are working on it! Patience my friends.... once they are ready I am going to run the constant duty system.

I will be very interested in what you come up with. I just bought a Vair 2.5 gallon tank and a twin cylinder compressor and I too have a 2 door. I don't see anywhere to mount either one under the jeep or under the hood. I'd really like to keep them out of the jeep.

I really sympathize with you guys on mounting anything on a JK other than you in the drivers seat. Its gonna take a little bit of creativity to get the mounting set up figured out but at this point I'm pretty confident that it should work out well. Thanks for your patience folks. I am trying to work on this as often as I can. I may start a thread next week to give everybody an idea as to the direction that I am going with this so I can get some feedback.

I sent you a PM regarding the filter. I'd like to have one.

I'd be careful about mounting the tank under the jeep.
