Since this thread is already here, I am wanting to upgrade my $19.95 cheapo compressor (it has lasted me faithfully for 15 years now, but not for airing up and down big tires). I will rarely air down my 32 (or 33's when I move up), so how much compressor does one really need. I don't do the hard core stuff you folks seem too, but occassionally mess with fire roads, trails and dunes that make dumping the pressure desirable. Realistically though, I only see myself doing this 3 or 4 times a year. Rest of the time it will just be dirt roads and highways.

I have been looking at the Viair units in the under $100 range. Will this do the trick?

I would think that you would be fine with a ViAir system with a 33% duty rating, and a small air tank for your needs, like their medium duty system P/N 10003.

I don't see whats so hard - there are plenty of good places to mount a compressor, its just they all require a bracket of some sort. What there is not much of are flat surfaces that are out of the way.

That is very misleading - an air tank mounted underneath is not going to explode. Maybe if it was full of pure oxygen, but I dont see compressed air exploding very easily.

I'd lokk forward to such a thread. I relocated my muffler and will probably put an air setup under there at some point, but I like to read everyone else's experiences first.

The things that I am trying to work with on the mounting is making sure that it is protected once it is mounted and I do not think there will really be a good mounting option without relocating the muffler and the evap cannister. And there should not be any concerns in regard to a quality tank blowing up. I had a meeting with Woods yesterday about his relocation kits and will hopefully be moving forward with (if nothing else) mounting info in the near future.

Even though the tank is fully pressurized I doubt it would blow up even if damaged. It would leak the pressurized air, but not blow up.

So I guess you don't want to sell me a metal air filter. I sent you a PM and put a message about it here as well. That's ok. I'll find one.
