cant figure it out had gears put in my jeep about a week ago took it to off road where house in el cajon. I drove it for about five hundred miles so taking it easy going about ten miles at a time then at about five hundred pushed it about twenty or thirty and smelt some thing hot but not likr gear oil i think hard to tell when your going just would get alittle wif every now and then now it feels like theres a boat anchor tranny shifting weird i figured because it was under a load because gears burned up but took to offroad where house today and they said gears where fine i have no idea jeep only has 2000 miles really dout trannys a problem any thoughs

did you calibrate your speedo to match your tires and gears? if not, your shift points are most likely off.

ck the front vent coming off the diff and see if you have a slight amount of gear oil coming out if its overfilled it will seep out when the oil warms

check the diffs, check the tranny fluid, and please throw a transmission cooler on that thing!!!!!!!!

I thought it was rear diff because front was worm to touch and rear you couldn't even put your hand on but manager at shop said that was normal. I pretty sure it should be same since front spins same as rear since i don't have locking hubs maybe I'm wrong though.

The rear when in 2wd will always be hotter than the front because its under load.
The rear does get hot mine was was in the 140-150 degree range after gears, shop said it was within spec.
