I think you are missing the point. If it has been regeared the speedo will be off. 70 is no longer 70mph. It would take another person driving at 70 to do. Are you hitting OD or stuck in a lower gear? That will also throw off RPMs. The lift, neutral and rotate is the simplest and easy to do without a helper.
