Default Bout time to Re-gear

So after my Trails wear out i am going to get a set of 35x12.50s. Anyway this 3.8l and auto sucks to drive as it sits with 34's. So im reading that a tuner is recommended. Im just having trouble reading all these threads about gears, tires, tuner/programmers.....Been reading for a while this morning....sA lot of opinions out there! I want to just maybe get some more insite on what im planning to do.

I think i will either go with a 4:88 or 5:13. Now my question is what brand or brands would you suggest as far as quality for price. i have seen Yukon around and came across a Sierra brand as well or best place to buy. So what brand and I have no idea on the tuner thing. My powerstroke is the only tuner i have every bought, so for gassers i have no idea. Also seems that each brand of vehicle has a tuner/programmer that may work a little better for each. Could really use some help. thank you.!

From what I understand from the info floating around here on the forum is that most, if not all ring & pinion gearing is made by the same S. Korean Co. and just labeled differently...please correct me if I'm wrong.

I went with Yukon's and have had no problems.

Regear...don't waste your money on a tuner unless you are anal about your speedometer being 100% correct.

After I regeared I could not tell a difference when I loaded/unloaded the superchips program so I sold it. Much happier now.

Thats kinda what i was wondering the most about. I know that a tuner does do a little something on vehicles. Seems like not so much HP increases that would matter that much, but shift points for sure.. I know the blackbear performance tune i did on our silverado made it run like a striped ape
