I thought these d30s still use x297 u-joints? If so they are avalible everywhere.
I have a stock X with the 225's still on it.. I doubt i overloaded it..

you cant buy alloy shafts for a jk 30 yet to my knowledge.... if you can the 5 major vendors in here need to fing out why they can sell me one.
zach, they guy who posted above this broke hi with stock x tires, im very familiar with the weak link as far as a u joint.
if i had a u joint, a pile of tools, and 2 extra hours on the trail, i WOULDNt need a shaft!, but i didnt.
All i wanted to know is if someone had a shaft, or a better idea, ive been four wheeling for quite a while now and think i know what im doing, thats why i said i was suprised it broke!!!, i ve had cj yj tj model 30s, with up to 35s.never broke a thing....EVER, so when you reply, try to be helpful, not annoying.
if you were with me when it broke, and you said that to me, it would be our last trailride together, i can assure you that!

I think it's probably only a few people on the forum who have such negative attitudes...they just make a lot of posts. Putting up arguementative posts adds to their enjoyment of "telling people what to do." The funny thing is that many times these people DON'T EVEN HAVE JKs, yet they spend a bunch of time here "helping" us "newbies." I have seen it on the trail too. People assume that just because you have a new vehicle that you are new to Jeeping. I have been doing this for 18 years and just last month some "old guy" who paid for someone else to build his rig tried to tell me where I should go. These people need to get over themselves. Good luck.

i think youre correct, maybe he meant no harm, but im without my jeep for a week now, and that does NOT help.ive been jeeping for 18 years as well
i ve heard some stories of the caps backing out ok JK axles, note the term jk!
thats what happened to mine, it pushed the end og the cap out, allowing more leverage on that 1/4 of the cross, and sheared it. im sure aftermarket guys are on this big time, im not the only one, and i promise you i wont be the last!!!
try to imagine breaking your jk with 940 miles on it, and having someone tell you youre a mall crawler and you should at least have alloy shafts that dont exist, i think the dhali llama would take a swing at him...

If the cross cap backed off, it should be clearly covered under warranty. I know a few folks that spot weld the clips in so they don't come out and allow the caps to back out. Good luck with the repair.

Did you just break the U-joint, or did you also also damage the axle shaft on yours? When mine broke, it not only shattered the u-joint, but the axle shaft was badly damaged and was not driveable. It had to be towed to the dealership. It completely ripped apart. The scenario was that I was attempting to get up a hill, and that wheel was slightly off the ground, but not enough that it was noticeable. I was in 4x4, and when it hit the ground, at about 1000-1500 rpm, it went bang and pop, and i coasted back down the hill. I did manage to drive out about 1/4 mile from the desert area to a main road, but it would not have been safe to drive on a main road. I realize this was a mistake and breakage that could have probably been prevented, but hey, its a jeep.

What is the part number? There has been a lot of speculation as to what size joints are in the new axles...
