He used to fill it to about 130psi so he always had extra air for an occasional flat or whatever else. Tom.
The one thing I would mention is that with water bumpers, if they break/get hit water falls down. Metal holding pressure at 130psi is a dangerous situation. It is one thing to have a tank mounted underneath or in the trunk area away from a crumple zone, but if you have it pressurized while on road and get rear ended you have the potential for a much larger issue.

Ok! Back on track. I got the bumper finished before Topless For Tatas. I tested it by backing full speed into a tree that no one saw and banging it on various rocks. Held up like a champ. No dents or anything. I did break a tail light on the tree, but the bumper saved me from major damage.Click image for larger version

My welds were looking like this by the end. I'm going to make a few small changes and call it perfect.

You got great talent my friend. I wish I had the skills and equipment to do stuff like that. On a judging point of view, I think I would have used bigger diameter tubing, with the plate welded on the inside, thus hiding the welds. And then get it all sprayed in LINEX material. But the design is perfect.

Thanks man, I appreciate the feedback. The problem with a larger diameter tube for me is that it's more likely to dent. I used rustoleum truck bed coating because it's really easy to touch up and holds up very well. Just gotta be patient and let it cure. I agree the welds look kinda crappy on the plate, but I was pressed for time. I'm going to go back over it in the next couple weeks and clean it up and probably fully weld the seam and grind it smooth. I'll post more pics when I get to work on it again.

Oh but didn't mean to sound as if I was judging the quality of the welds. Just that if the plate had been welded inside, the welds would not show.

Lol not at all, this is the first thing I ever welded, I'm totally pleased with the ugly and pretty ones.

I've only ever worked with wood before this.

I know what you are saying. It never even occurred to me to do it that way, I might try that on the next one. I'll see how this one looks fully welded first.
